🐝 Bees outlasted 🦖 dinosaurs and have been buzzing about for over 20 million years. In evolutionary terms, that’s an astonishing success story. So this must be doing something right. Their secret? They follow a beautifully simple yet staggeringly effective algorithm called the wiggle dance.

Here’s how it works: when a worker bee finds a great source of nectar, she returns to the hive and performs a little choreography, the

wiggle dance. This dance tells the other bees exactly where the treasure lies, minimizing wasted effort and maximizing nectar collection. Most bees follow the directions dutifully, zooming off to collect what’s already known. Just like businesses, this algorithm is designed to minimize effort, maximize returns.

 

But - and here’s where the brilliance lies - not all bees comply. About 20% ignore the dance entirely, choosing instead to explore new

and uncharted territory. These rogue bees are the oddballs, the risk-takers, the ones with a high likelihood of failure. Nine out of ten times, they’ll

return empty-handed. But every now and then, one stumbles upon an untapped paradise of nectar that none of the waggle-followers would ever have found.

This is why bees have outlasted dinosaurs. Their strategy is not only about efficiency; it’s about resilience. They hedge their bets, tolerating a little short-term waste to secure massive long-term gains. And crucially, when a rogue bee strikes gold, the entire hive benefits. Information flows back, the wiggle dance is updated, and what was once a crazy gamble becomes the new standard.

A strong go-to-market strategy involves aligning your business goals, product features, pricing, marketing, and sales efforts to ensure everything is set up for success from day one. Bridging a lot of departments and teams.

Questions you might have

Are you a freelancer?

I'm an in-house partner, but you can call me a freelancer or consultant if you want. The difference is that I'll integrate in your team being more involved than a remote freelancer or distant consultant.

What do you charge?

I work with fixed day rates. The rates depend on the length and extent of the assignment but range between €650 - €1.050.

Why did you sell your majority shares in your creative agency?

I was done and fed up with the typical marketing agency hassle. Working as consultant gives me more flexibility and time to focus on products and clients I actually care about.

How do you work?

Everything starts with a good chat. If it's a match and my schedule allows taking on a new client, I'll draft up a proposal. Outlining the project timeline, scope and budget based on my daily rates. Once the proposal is approved and NDA's are signed, I either work at your office or remotely with your team to realize the project.

What did you study?

I graduated cum laude at the KU Leuven obtaining a masters degree (MSc) in Business and Information Systems Engineering with a focus on quantitative marketing, programming, databases and IT architecture and with award-wining research on nudging and machine learning.
